Sample size and highlight bias

A short session or edited clip cannot establish frequency for rare events. Learn what the signal proves, where it fails and the action to take before spending.

A short session or edited clip cannot establish frequency for rare events.

What is happening

Selected highlights omit the denominator. Even unedited small samples can swing widely when events are rare.

Good analysis separates the visible cue from the underlying event. Identify what starts the event, what it costs, which states can persist, where the rules reset and what evidence describes the distribution.

Where judgement slips

People give more weight to large, recent and vividly animated outcomes. A game interface can intensify that bias by showing near-misses, progress markers or selected history. None of those cues changes what the next independent result owes.

One action

Ask how many attempts occurred and what they cost.

Evidence hierarchy

A current help file or certified configuration can support a mechanical claim. Provider marketing can describe a feature but not its consumer value. A stream or personal session can demonstrate interface behaviour, not long-run return.

Starlight Princess Super Scatter, Money Train 4, Le Bandit are mapped to this pattern. Each file preserves edition and source boundaries.
